A Drop in the Ocean

The other day, I was using a ceramic palette to paint with watercolors.

For this particular project, I diluted the pigment with water ahead of time. I made sure to be careful when mixing since I wanted each color to be its own pure color. When I mixed the purple paint, a few drops went into the teal below it. I lowkey panicked then watched as the purple dissipated into the teal. To my surprise, the overall color was not affected. Witnessing this, I realized that sometimes no matter how careful we are being, there are unwanted things that can happen in life.

I imagine a drop in the ocean; the amount is so small that it does not make an important difference. The ocean is still the ocean regardless. Applying this to my every day: if I am focusing on the positives day in and day out, then a few drops of negative will not alter my overall mood. In my journey of being consistent, missing one or nine days in the grand scheme of months or years will not mean I am inconsistent. This incident reminded me to let go of perfection and keep going.
